He's genuinely the only R1 DJ I can listen to any time. Mills I have to be in the right mood. Moyles cheers me up nomatter how crap I'm feeling. It's genuine escapism in some way.

Early Breakfast:Spoony
Breakfast: Moyles
Late Morning: Vernon
Early Afternoon: Mills
Late Afternoon(Drive time): JK and Joel (They are class at that spot...)

Posts like this only confirm my view that most people on here dont have a clue what they are talking about.

And posts like that confirm what many people think - you may have whatever opinion on Radio 1 that you want, just as long as it fits ours.

Ok, lets analyse this then shall we..

Spoony: The only positive thing about this suggestion is that he'd be on when I couldn't hear him. A terrible DJ and in terms of scheduling, an awful move. You want someone on at this time who is going to hook listeners in for breakfast, and has something special about them - i.e. Moyles, Mills, JK and Joel. This slot is very important to Radio 1 and needs to offer a bit more than crap urban music, stupid stories about Liverpool players and unfunny golf competitions.

Moyles: I'll give you this, at least you have some sense and are not one of the *get him back to afternoons now* morons.

Vernon: For a start he couldn't commit to weekdays on Radio 1 due to his TV commitments. He hardly makes his weekend shifts most the time so thats a bad idea for continuity. Plus, in this slot Radio 1 have had Jo Whiley for five years - someone with huge musical credibility. She, as producer/musical booker on The Word and through Radio 1, has helped promote and break countless bands and clearly has a passion for new music that suits this slot. Vernon is more like Moyles in the sense he is an "entertainment" based presenter (and I use that term loosely), so is not suitable for this slot at all.

Mills/JK and Joel: Mills has become one of the most creative broadcasters Radio 1 have had in decades, who in the last few years has become a genuinely great presenter. Winning Sony awards and getting huge audience figures at Drive... so you move him to afternoons? Its a bit of a waste really. The Moyles/Mills combo works really well, so theres no reason to move either around the schedule.

Thats why if JK and Joel are to move to daytimes - then they should go to afternoons.

i dont mind him but like ive said before dont like him in the morning and as for whiley all she does is play the foo fighters i cant stand her voice so i switch off

No I tune in for Moyles. All I'm saying is that while scott is good at drive he seems to be struggling to find his morning feet. I know he's only filling in and any change will be lamented by people.

It's like when Opal Fruits changed to Starburst, (or Marathon to Snickers or Pepsi changing to blue cans) There's nothing wrong with change, there will always be people who say "yeah but it's not the same, I prefered X" no matter how insignificant the change.

Not the best metaphor but all I could come up with at short notice.
