I was up in Bolton yesterday, they still had large piles of snow up there, London is just constantly damp now (nothing new there then).

I live in Gloucester and within about 2 hours we had over an inch of settled snow, and getting up the hill was terrible (i'd hate to see the state of my tyres...) but when I got to Cheltenham (about 10 miles later) there's hardly anything at all! I came in with my tales of woe (i had a Subaru misjudge his breaking and slide into the back of me) and everyone was just sat there wondering what i was moaning about!

Hasn't made it to Romford yet, although the temperature has dropped quite a bit from yesterday & it's been dark all day which is usually a sign.

I cheered once I realised it was a Kent news story. I miss home.

I do love how he did it in Spring 2008 & they've only now just give him a telling off. He could be a completely different kid now, straight A's etc. Who am I kidding he's probably the same horrible little sod

My so-called sister. When she told me she was pregnant with Joel, I was really happy for her, I tried to reassure her when anything was niggling or upsetting her, I took time off work to drive her to the hospital when she bled once or twice and I was so happy to be getting a nephew (or neice).

We decided to tell her yesterday before we told most of the rest of the family because we thought she would be happy to be told she's going to be an Auntie - for the first time in her case - and for Joel to get a little cousin to grow up with. In reality she seemed like she couldn't wait to change the subject and never even said congratulations or anything and I even said later on "so are you excited to become an Auntie?" and she just said "it's ages away yet." Just because something doesn't involve her, she couldn't give two shits about it, even though it's her immediate family. I know she has been a right madam in the past, but I thought telling her the most important news I've ever had the pleasure of telling anyone in my life, she would be happy for me. * inconsiderate, self-centred, ungrateful bitch.

Mate, that's terrible, I really hope she changes her tune very soon!

Its not what you would want, but realistically you can't make people behave how you want them to. She just - for whatever reason - either can't or won't give you what you want here. Its very sad but you can't make her be what you want, she is what she is. Which would seem to be pretty unlikeable.

Yes, but she's had the same upbringing as me and I'd like to think that I turned out alright (though some may debate that!)

That doesn't mater though does it? People are different. She isn't like you. Your upbringing isn't what makes you who and what you are, although of course it is going to be influential in a person's behaviour. But just because you turned out ok doesn't mean you must have had a good upbringing, any more than her turning out to be a self-centred miserable immature cow means that she had a bad one. Mind you, as a parent of pretty much grown up kids I'd debate that you DID have the same upbringing really. Whilst the basic environment they are in is obviously the same, I know for certain that my son and my daughter haven't always been treated in exactly the same way - simply because it hasn't always been appropriate to do so. It'll be the same for you and your sister I reckon.

Mm, agreed Yuds. My bro has always been favourite and even my mum openly admitted to me that "there's something different about a son." I don't mind, I've never felt I got a raw deal or anything even close, but it's intriguing. In the case of the sister and the baby...does she get on well with Catherine? I'm not close to my sister-in-law so I have to say I might feel ambivalent about her being pregnant. That said, I'm childfree so I come from a different perspective...

anyway...annoying me today are my hormones. I just cried at an episode of Family Guy. Yes, Family Guy. Bad times.

I think she likes Cat - she just has a funny way of showing it; Cat doesn't like her though and I totally understand why.

I don't know what the context is Zoot, but on the whole, yes, I think you are too sensible sometimes! You'll be pleased you are in the long run though.

Today, a ulcer on the back end of the roof of my mouth so that every time I swallow anything (even water) I get a nasty pain. Ah well that means I'll be on the Corsodyl for a while which is effective but leaves a * horrible taste in me mouth :x

Difflam works better than Corsodyl. And if you can reach it with a cotton bud, Bonjela Once is brilliant.

Oh really, I'll have to seek out Difflam next time :) As for Bonjela on a cotton bud, unfortunately it's so far back in the mouth (on the "junction" with the air passage between the nose & the gullet) that I know I would gag even attempting it.

Thanks for the advice on the Difflam though, I shall have to look out for that :)

If you can't find Difflam (which you can get on prescription, or over the counter its sold as a sore throat rinse), try Eludril. You have to dilute it but they give you a little measuring cup for that. Its pretty good too.
