why cant people just accept that language evolves.

gay used to mean happy a few decades ago.
then in the 90's and maybe before, it was taken to mean homosexual.
nowadays, it has changed again to mean rubbish or poor. yet whenever you say it, some people take you to be a bigoted narrowminded prick when its just no true.

Never heard that in this part of somerset until i started seeing someone from Bristol!
but then the language/accent changes once you cross the mendips.
